Join us for a workshop bringing together a mindful encounter with art and the need for rest. Working with the senses and the body, we will immerse ourselves in the gallery space – without the pressure to interpret or search for ready-made answers.
29 August (Saturday), 11 am–2 pm
66P Subjective Institution of Culture | Księcia Witolda 66
led by Dominika Drop
admission free
The workshop will be adapted to the needs of people with visual impairments. If you require the support of an assistant for a blind person, please let us know by 15 August.
If you have any questions, please contact us by phone at +48 511 075 362 from Monday to Friday, 9:00 am–3:00 pm, or by email at: [email protected].
Places are limited and participation is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
The starting point for the meeting will be Maciek Cholewa’s exhibition Rumour Has It, which explores the gaze, imagination and the relationship between the local and the global. During the workshop, we will try to slow down and discover what happens when we allow ourselves simply to be with the works.
In our everyday lives, we experience the world in a hurry, trying to understand and assess what we see as quickly as possible. A rested body and calmer mind, however, create the conditions for a more open encounter with art. When we slow down, it becomes easier to notice details, remain curious and allow ourselves to experience before we begin to interpret.
During the workshop, we will draw inspiration from the structure of forest bathing (shinrin-yoku) – a practice of mindfully immersing oneself in nature through all the senses. This time, the art gallery rather than the forest will become the space in which we immerse ourselves. Through simple invitations to observe attentively, connect with the senses and spend moments in silence, we will discover our own way of engaging with the exhibition.
The second part of the workshop will be devoted to deep relaxation inspired by the practice of yoga nidra – a space for stillness, rest and regeneration that allows us to turn our attention inward and deepen our experience of presence.
The workshop is open to all adults. No previous experience or knowledge of contemporary art or mindfulness practices is required. All that is needed is curiosity and a willingness to slow down.
„Kępa Mieszczańska. From Needs to Culture” is a series of neighborhood meetings and workshops organized by 66P, which connect art with the everyday experiences of Kępa’s residents. The starting point is universal needs – such as being noticed, rest, exercise, and a sense of security – around which artistic activities, walks, and workshops are built. The project encourages a more thoughtful look at one’s neighborhood, relationships, and local community, without pressure and without the need for prior art experience.
