Zbigniew Libera begins his stay in 66P with a story about selected fragments of his book “Art of Liberation”. The resulting film feeds the arts with histories related to the author’s life and work. The exhibition entitled “Metric Measures and the Unicorn” from June 18, 2021 will present the premiere, large-format work “Metric Measures in the White Goddess Dance Theater”, which, significantly different from Libera’s recent photographic projects, reveals the possible beginning of a new direction of the artist’s activities. It is a poetic tale about the recurring cycle of human imperfection. The unicorn in the title of the exhibition refers to two photographs from the 1980s presented next to “Metric Measures …” – the characters “Magda” and “Pretty Boy”, captured in the eye of the camera, have teenage androgenicity registered at the moment of transforming into a mature form. Libera himself compares Magda’s eyes to the eyes of a cat or an owl: “we feel that there is something eerie there, but we do not understand any of it”. During the exhibition, Libera together with friends from Rdzeń band along with invited guests will conduct a recording session. The final will be a concert and at the end of the year an album.
