Dominik Podsiadły presents his research related to landscape in the context of new and old media. The title refers directly to the name of a device installed in aircraft and which is an indispensable tool for determining the position in relation to the ground, especially helpful in poor visibility.
The exhibition is a large-scale installation made of mechanical and electro-waste, which will fill the entire space of 66P. The resulting composition became a picture of the world of the Anthropocene epoch, in which man is faced with the need to react and find a solution to the problem of the growing number of electronic devices, which he at the same time cannot give up and which are necessary for his functioning. Using abandoned and damaged objects, the artist shows the landscape of contemporary anthropocentric society.
Everything that our species takes from nature and then processes it, producing often unnecessary or cheaply made items that are later pressed into consumers. Due to excess and poor quality those items are abandoned after a short use. When they stop working, man begins to feel anxious and empty. The surplus that surrounds us is the artificial horizon of our social system based on robbery and destruction. Overproduction affects the condition of our planet, and the increasingly deteriorating quality of items causes to flood us with useless waste.
